one Christmas we splurged
rented a cabin in the mountains
pine trees and snow
the children were lost in a Winter Wonderland
sledding downhill, building a snowman
the snowball fights were a raucous event
we collapsed into making snow angels
decorating the tree with our own
we had brought from home
as the fireplace blazed away
it was when the children were dancing
with sugar plums in their heads
knowing Old Saint Nick would be there
we were reclining on the pillowed floor
the fire dancing in your eyes
i fully realized the wealth your love
had given to me
a wealth neither time or circumstance
could ever erase
enjoying my bacon cheeseburger, fries
a hand lights upon my shoulder
dear, she says, you look lost again
your mind is wandering i believe
Earth to my husband
turning to her, i never left, i reply
i still see that fire dancing in your eyes
a gentle smile appears upon her
love always knows where you are
