sitting at the table, waiting
i know i have written all of this before
but i remember that blue dress
we were still newlyweds
almost blooming into the next phase
you coming thru the door
still a little anxious
had not quite moved into that confident stroll
i hold that memory of that blue dress
sometimes when traffic has been stalled
all around me is the anger
i lean back, put a smile on my face
remember you in that blue dress
i am sure the flagman on the highway
appreciates the smile i wear
the little thank you i wave
as i pass into the din of multi-lanes
is owed to a blue dress
well, you come thru the door
is in there too
